Racers Round Out Regular Season in Dominant Fashion

Murray State women's basketball finished the regular season with a 100-68 win at Valpo
Sharnecce Currie-Jelks recorded her 24th double-double of the year with 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Murray State to a dominant 100-68 victory over Valparaiso at the Athletics-Recreation Center on Saturday. The Racers (28-3, 19-1 MVC) used an explosive 32-point third quarter to pull away away from the Beacons.
Murray State's high-powered offense featured four players in double figures. Haven Ford contributed 20 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc, while Halli Poock added 18 points and a game-high nine assists. Keslyn Secrist chipped in 12 points as the Racers finish the MVC regular season campaign 19-1.
The Racers dominated the glass, out-rebounding Valparaiso 54-40, and capitalized on fast-break opportunities with 27 points.Â
Murray State held a comfortable 55-28 lead at halftime and never looked back, leading by as many as 40 points late in the game. The Racers enter the MVC Tournament next week as the top seed and will play on Friday, March 13 at 12 p.m. CT in Coralville, Iowa.
