Racers Drop Fourth Straight in Midweek Loss to UT Martin

MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State baseball lost its fourth consecutive game Wednesday with a 5-1 defeat to UT Martin at Johnny Reagan Field. The loss ties the Racers' longest losing streak of the 2026 season.
The Racers (27-22, 12-6 MVC) and Skyhawks remained scoreless until UT Martin broke the tie with a three-run eighth inning.
Murray State responded in the bottom of the eighth when Connor Chisolm hit an RBI single through the left side for the lone Racer run.
UT Martin (24-24, 9-12 OVC) added two runs in the ninth to secure the 5-1 victory.
Ethan Lyke made his second consecutive midweek start, pitching four scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks.
Derek Lebron took the loss despite a strong outing on the mound. He allowed one run on one hit while striking out four.
The Racers were limited to four hits in the contest. Kristofer Hokenson and Colby Ott each recorded a double.
Chisolm and Conner Cunningham both tallied singles, with Chisolm's hit providing the only Murray State run of the day.
The Racers host Indiana State at Johnny Reagan Field this weekend. Both teams enter the series with 12-6 records in Missouri Valley Conference play, tied for first place in The Valley.
