Three First Career Goals Lift Racers Past Austin Peay for Madsen's First Win

MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State women's soccer scored three times in the second half Sunday afternoon to beat Austin Peay 3-0 at Cutchin Field, earning its first win of the 2026 season and the first of head coach Ben Madsen's tenure. All three Racer goals were the first of the scorers' collegiate careers.

Murray State improved to 1-4-2 with its second straight clean sheet. Austin Peay fell to 0-6-1.

"I'm really proud of this group," Madsen said. "We've been in a lot of these games and just haven't found that final piece, and today they went out and took it. They've stayed together through a tough stretch and kept believing it was coming. This one belongs to the players. Hopefully it's the first of a lot more around here."

The Racers put the pressure on from the opening whistle, winning a corner kick inside the first minute and forcing a save in the third. Murray State piled up nine shots and seven corner kicks before halftime without finding a breakthrough, and Griselda Revolorio kept the match level at the other end with six first-half saves.

Gabby Ramdeen finally broke through in the 60th minute, converting a Breece Bass service for the opening goal and the eventual game-winner. Kai LaBarrie doubled the lead in the 68th, finishing a build-up from Natalie Miller and Bass. Erin O'Shea capped the afternoon in the 84th minute with an unassisted strike.

Bass finished with two assists, a career high, to go with a team-leading four shots. Miller added her second assist of the season. Murray State outshot Austin Peay 15-12 and held a 10-6 edge in corner kicks.

The Racers return to the road Thursday, Sept. 10, for a match at Tennessee Tech. Kickoff in Cookeville, Tennessee, is set for 6 p.m. CST.

Ramdeen, LaBarrie and O'Shea all scored their first collegiate goals.
Revolorio's eight saves pushed her to 225 for her career, moving her past Jenna Villacres and into fourth place in program history.
Sunday's clean sheet was the 17th of Revolorio's career, third all time behind Alex Steigerwald (27) and Tara Isbell (25).
Bass had recorded one assist in a match six times before Sunday. Her two against Austin Peay set a career high.
The three goals were Murray State's first three-goal match of 2026 and its most in a match this season.
All six of Murray State's goals this season have come at Cutchin Field.
Murray State leads the all-time series with Austin Peay 18-4-3 and is now unbeaten in 13 straight meetings, an 11-0-2 run dating to 2011.
