BEFORE MSU: Was a four-year letterwinner at Murray High...earned honorable mention all-state honors as a senior after helping lead the Tigers to a 24-14 record and the Region I All “A” championship...went 9-4 with a 1.93 ERA...struck out 108 in 65.1 innings...tossed a no-hitter in the All “A” sectional...also hit .360 with three home runs and a team-best 33 RBIs...went 8-2 with 65 strikeouts in 46.1 innings, and hitting 425 with 24 RBIs as a junior...fanned a career-best 18 during a one-hitter as a sophomore...helped team to regular season District Championship as a freshman by going 8-1 with a 1.55 ERA...also drove in 33 runs while hitting .463...graduated with a 4.0 GPA...member of the National Honor Society...voted most outstanding senior male and most likely to succeed.
