Raymond Sims enters his 11th season assisting with the women’s tennis team at Murray State.

Sims has been a coach Murray High School and has been assisting with the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Murray State for the past decade. During his span time with the Racers the teams have combined to win five OVC Championships.

Sims was a member of the 1979 Murray State men’s tennis team and has been playing in national tennis tournaments since. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the 50-year-old singles class in the State of Kentucky.

Sims graduated from Murray State in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and followed with a master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky in 2000 in health and physical education. He is currently pursuing a PhD from Southern Illinois in higher education administration and plans to defend my dissertation in the spring of 2012.

The Murray, Ky., native is married to Sue Retinger, who works at Murray State in the Office of Equal Opportunity as an assistant to the Director of Compliance.
