Vanessa Phillips-Bosshart is in her fourth season in 2016-17 as an assistant coach for the Racers.Â

Her work with Murray State goalkeepers has been outstanding.

In 2014 she coached Shelby Haworth who earned a spot on the All-Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer team as a freshman. In 2015, Alex Steigerwald was named All-OVC Second Team as a freshman.

One of the most prolific goalkeepers in Tennessee history, Phillips-Bosshart came to Murray State in 2013 after spending a season as a coach for the Sporting Blue Valley Soccer Club in Overland Park, Kan. Prior to her stint with Sporting BV, she served as an assistant coach at Arkansas in 2010 and 2011. She coached at North Florida from 2007-09. She holds national and advanced goalkeeping diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

As a student-athletes at Tennessee, Phillips-Bosshart helped lead the Lady Vols to one SEC East title, three regular-season crowns, three tournament championships and four NCAA appearances. In addition to her All-SEC honors in 2004 and 2005, she was named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America in 2004. Phillips-Bosshart played for the Under-23 USA Women's National Team.

The Vernon, Conn., native still holds several records at Tennessee that stand to this day. In 2003, she set the single-season record for shutouts with 12 and in 2004, set the single-season marks for lowest goals against average at 0.68 and minutes in goal at 2,237. She is also the current Lady Vols career leader in minutes at 6,602, shutouts at 32.0, victories at 49 and goals against average at 0.82. Her goals against average and total shutouts are also currently the sixth and second best in SEC history, respectively.
