BEFORE MSU: Played three seasons for Mahomet-Seymour High under coaches Lydia Gard (2003) and former Eastern Illinois standout Genevieve Ramos (2004, 2005)...as a varsity player, helped the Bulldogs to a combined 70-27 (.722) record...totaled 720 career kills, 899 career digs and 111 career aces...a three-time MSHS volleyball MVP...in her senior season (2005), she helped MSHS to a 30-3 record and conference championship...named to all-state second team, all-area first team and all-conference first team honors...named to three all-tournament teams, helping the Bulldogs win the Mahomet-Seymour Invitational and the Chatham-Glenwood Invitational and take second at the Centennial Invitational...a Rotary Club Athlete of the Month...a Champaign News-Gazette Player of the Week and a WICD-TV (Champaign, Ill.) Player of the Week...slammed 310 kills to go with 384 digs and 30 aces, the only Bulldog to ever get 300 kills and 300 digs in a single season...in her junior season (2004), earned all-state special mention honors as well as all-area first team and all-conference first team awards...named to three all-tournament teams, helping MSHS to a first-place finish at the Mahomet Seymour Invitational and second-place finishes at the Chatham-Glenwood Invitational and the Centennial Invitational...tallied 223 kills, 306 digs and 35 aces...helped the Bulldogs to a 22-10 mark...in her sophomore season (2003), earned all-state honorable mention and all-conference first team honors...named to three all-tournament teams...had 184 kills, 209 digs, 46 aces and 10 blocks...helped MSHS to an 18-14 record...on her club team, Illini Elite, helped the team to a third-place finish at the 2005 Nationals, a fifth-place finish at the 2004 Nationals and a ninth-place finish at the 2003 Nationals...also played on the junior varsity basketball team as a freshman, leading the team in scoring with 261 points...graduated eighth in a class of 230 at Mahomet-Seymour with a 5.67 grade-point average on a 5.0-scale...high school memberships include: Class Top Ten, National Honor Society, Illinois State Scholar, Merit Recognition Scholar, French National Honor Society, Prairie State Achievement Award, U.S. Army Reserve Scholar-Athlete Award, and earned the MSHS Academic Letter Award for all four years...enjoys coaching youth volleyball, scrapbooking, photography and attending rodeos.
PERSONAL: Born Leah Beth Rippy on April 12, 1988, the daughter of Chuck and Lu Rippy...has one brother, Wade...majoring in pre-dentistry.
