The loss, coupled with wins for Austin Peay and Samford, brought the three teams back into a tie for the all-important sixth-place spot.. Only the top six teams qualify for the O'Reilly's OVC Championship Tournament, and Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Southeast Missouri State and Tennessee State have all unofficially clinched berths. Only one berth is left to claim. Morehead State, Tennessee-Martin and Tennessee Tech have all unofficially been eliminated from tournament contention.
Each team has two regular-season matches left. Murray State closes out its regular-season slate at Tennessee-Martin on Thursday and at Austin Peay on Saturday, a match that looks like a do-or-die match for both teams. Austin Peay visits Tennessee State on Wednesday and hosts Murray State, while Samford travels to Southeast Missouri State on Friday and to Eastern Illinois on Saturday.
