Men's Tennis Falls At Samford

Murray State's men's tennis team fell to Samford University 6-1 today in Birmingham, Ala. The Racers fall to 0-5 on the season and 0-1 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Bulldogs improve to 3-0 in league matches and 6-4 overall.

Dmytro Hryhorash and Fadi Zamjaoui claimed a 9-8 victory at No. 1 doubles for Murray State over Sam Huffman and Renan Silveira. However, Samford won the No. 2 doubles match 8-1 and the No. 3 match 9-8 to claim the doubles point.

In singles play, Zamjaoui earned MSU's only point by handing Silveira his first OVC loss of the season, 6-3 and 6-3, at No. 1 singles.

Hryhorash took the first set over Stuart Misner at No. 2 singles but Misner came back to win the second and third sets to claim the victory.

Samford claimed four straight set victories in the remaining matches.

The Racers will return to action Sunday morning when they face Jacksonville State, in Jacksonville, Ala., at 10 a.m.
