The Murray State Racers play the last game of 2009 when they travel to Edwardsville, Ill., to meet the Cougars of SIU Edwardsville in a 7 p.m. tip at the Vadalabene Center on Wednesday night. The game will be the first in their series since 2004 and the sixth since the first meeting in 1975. The Cougars are an incoming participating member of the Ohio Valley Conference and will begin playing a full conference schedule and begin eligibility for post-season play in the 2012-13 season. This is the first of two meetings between the two with the next meeting in Murray, Ky., Jan. 27.

RACER TV NETWORK ON THE AIR: Comcast of Paducah has been added the the network bringing the total number of households that can see the games to 85,000. Subscribers of Comcast, NewWave Communications and Mediacom can see the games at no additional charge.
Comcast carries the MSU games in Channel 17, wnile NewWave customers will see the games on channel 79 in all areas west of Kentucky Lake and on channel 3 in Hopkinsville and Madisonville. Mediacom subscribers in Marshall, Calloway, Trigg, and Caldwell Counties can see the games on channel 23, except in Oak Grove, Ky., and Dover, Tenn., where the games will be seen on channel 97.
MSU Assistant AD for Media Relations Dave Winder and Associate AD for External Affairs Paul Bubb will provide play by play and commentary.

2009 WINDS DOWN: With the first part of the Racers' season in the books to the tune of a 9-3 start, MSU plays the final game of 2009. After dropping their season opener in a close 75-70 game Nov. 9 at then No. 12 California, MSU reeled off eight straight wins before losing at Louisiana Tech Dec. 15 by an 87-81 score.
MSU's last time out was a Dec. 22 loss at WKU 83-72. The Racers are 2-3 away from home this season with wins at Florida International and East Tennessee State and losses at Cal, LouisianaTech and WKU. MSU is undefeated at home with wins over UMSL, Tennessee Wesleyan, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State and Chattanooga. MSU has provided excellent defense through 12 games in limiting opponents to a scoring average of 63.2 points. The Racers are also ranked third in the nation with 12.5 steals per game.
In the last NCAA report, Tony Easley was 49th in the nation in blocked shots with Danero Thomas and B.J. Jenkins 75th in steals per game.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS: SIUE is 2-10 before their Monday home game with UMKC. The Cougars have wins this season over Drake and Texas-Arlington which came in the Drake Hyvee Tournament Challenge in De Moines. SIUE defeated the host Bulldogs 60-58 Dec. 3 after trailing by four points with under two minutes to play. SIUE came back the next night on Dec. 4 and won the title game 71-67 over UTA. Mark Yelovich was named the tournament MVP with 42 points scored. The Cougars' leading scorer this season, Yelovich is averaging 15.8 points per game. Since then, the Cougars have lost six straight including a 90-63 game Dec. 22 at Purdue. SIUE is 0-4 at the Vadalabene Center this season.
