MSU HITS THE ROAD: The Murray State Racers travel to the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Tuesday for their final road Ohio Valley Conference game of the regular season in a 7 p.m. tip against the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks. The Racers enter the contest having won three straight games with wins over Eastern Illinois Feb. 7 (59-53) on the road, and two home wins, last Thursday against Tennessee Tech (73-52) and Saturday against Jacksonville State (57-54). MSU has won seven of eight with their only loss coming Feb. 7 at Austin Peay 83-80. MSU enters the SEMO game with Danero Thomas hitting for a 12.6 points per game, while Tyler Holloway adds 10.6.
RACERS-REDHAWKS FIRST MEETING: The Racers won the first meeting with Southeast Missouri at the Regional Special Events Center Jan. 24 by an 80-55 score in a game that was much closer than the final score indicates. SEMO was four points down with 12:31 remaining before MSU pushed to a 20-point lead with an 18-3 run. Tyler Holloway led MSU with 17, while Danero Thomas added 14, Kevin Thomas 13, and Donte Poole 10. MSU won the battle of the boards 41-24.
ROAD WINS HARD TO GET: Winning on the road was hard to do in the OVC last week when only one visiting team was able to score a victory in nine league games. Tennessee State won in Clarksville, Tenn. against Austin Peay 88-80 on Saturday. The Racers are 4-4 in OVC road games this season with wins at Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Tennessee State, and Eastern Illinois. MSU's win at EKU is the Colonels only home loss in league play this season. MSU's four OVC road wins is third-best in the OVC at the moment as Austin Peay has six and UT Martin has five. MSU has the home-court advantage with their final three OVC games all at the RSEC. After MSU hosts Louisiana Tech Saturday at 2 p.m. in the ESPNU BracketBusters game, they have UT Martin on Monday, Feb. 23, Morehead State Thursday, Feb. 26, and Eastern Kentucky Saturday, Feb. 28. The MSU-Morehead contest will be aired on ESPNU.
RACER TV: The Racer TV Network will air the MSU-SEMO game live on NewWave Communications and Mediacom. This will be the final broadcast of the first season for the network after having done games at EKU, Morehead, and TSU.
