The Murray State Racers play their first road game of the 2010-11 season Wednsday when they play Mississippi in a 7 p.m. game at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum in Oxford, Miss. The Racers will be making their first trip to Ole Miss since 1993.
The Racers opened their 86th season of basketball with a home win Monday in a 50-39 win over East Tennessee State at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. MSU took the lead for good with 6:05 in the first half after a fast-break three-pointer from B.J. Jenkins for a 13-10 MSU lead. Jenkins, who scored a game-high 14 points, provided the spark at the start of the second half with a three and a steal that led to an Isaiah Canaan easy deuce and the Racers led 27-17 only 3:21 into the half.
The win for the Racers marked their 21st straight in home openers dating back to their last loss in 1989 and they're perfect in home openers in 13 seasons in the CFSB Center. MSU pushed its home winning streak to 20 straight with the win. The Racers are 42-4 in the CFSB Center in the last three seasons.
