Men’s Tennis Competes at APSU Invite

Berardo, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, defeated APSU's Drew Kerr (6-3, 6-2) in the opening round of C Singles and then moved on to the championship match with a win over James Muller (6-1, 7-6(7)) from Lipscomb. In the title match he earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Robert Whitmer from Western Kentucky.
Caetano and Valle dropped their first match of the invite in A Doubles action to Jasmin Ademovic and John Storie from the host Governors (5-8) to move into the Back Draw bracket. The duo then earned 8-5 wins over Craig Kirchgessner/Lance Freeman and Priyank Gangadhar/Arul Selvan from WKU to earn the Back Draw title.
Caetano went 1-2 in singles action and Valle went 1-3 in his singles competition. Senior Mason Johnson earned one win in singles play, while losing two, and Luke Milicevic went 0-1 before withdrawing from singles play.
Milicevic and Johnson were the only other doubles pair in the tournament for the Racers. The duo earned a win over Gangadmaran and Selvan from WKU (8-6) before falling in their final two matches.
MSU will play one final time during the Fall season when they host the Murray State Invitational, Nov. 5-7 at Kenlake in Aurora, Ky. The Racers are hosting a round robin format with Jacksonville State, Samford and Western Kentucky coming to town.
