The Racers overcame a dry spell in the first half, but still managed a 24-22 lead when Isaiah Canaan hit a three-pointer at the buzzer at the Dunn Center. MSU ended the half making 5-of-10 from the field after missing their previous 14 attempts. The Racers pushed to their largest lead of the game with 11:11 left with an 18-point lead on a steal and finish by Canaan. After APSU trimmed the lead to seven, MSU made eight straight free throws in the final two minutes to get the 67-58 win.

The Racers are closing in on the program's 24th 20-win season in the 86 seasons of their history and the second in Billy Kennedy's five seasons. How good have the Racers been? Consider that the last seven coaches in this tradition-filled program have all recorded at least two 20-win seasons...that is once the Racers get to 20 this season. MSU's first coach, Carlisle Cutchin (1925-41) is still the all-time leader with four 20-win campaigns.

The Murray State Racers look for their sixth straight win Monday when they travel to Charleston, Ill., to face the Eastern Illinois Panthers in their third straight road game in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Racers lost the first meeting between the two at home 61-60 (Jan. 20) and haven't lost since. The Racers won their fifth straight Saturday in a 67-58 victory at Austin Peay, a win that put them into solo first place in the OVC for the first time this season at 9-3.

After going 20 games without a 20-point scorer the Racers were the last team to have one when Isaiah Canaan scored 24 against UT Martin (Jan. 29). Suddenly, MSU has had three in a row after Ed Daniel tossed in 21 points Thursday at Tennessee State and Canaan had the same Saturday at Austin Peay. Canaan, who owns the MSU record with 17 consecutive games with at least one made three-pointer has another streak going that has reached 10.

MSU clinched their 24th consecutive winning season with the win at Tennessee State (Feb. 3). MSU shares the same space with UConn with the fourth-best streak in the nation just behind Arizona (27), Kansas (28) and Syracuse (41). All of these are on their way to another winning season.
