The Racers (4-9, 0-1 OVC) earned their two points in the singles matches. Senior Alexis Webb was the first to record a point for MSU, with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Malavik Padmanabhan at No. 4 singles. Sophomore Ashley Canty followed with the second point after defeating Lorne McManigle 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.
“We played a quality NCAA championship caliber team today,” said head coach Connie Keasling. “Despite the loss, I hope this caliber of opponent will continue to make us stronger competitors.”
In doubles, senior Lindsey Wiseman and freshman Taylor Vick battled to a 9-8 (7-4) loss with Brenna Kelly and Padmanabham at No. 3 doubles.
The Racers will conclude their nine-match road trip with a match against Alabama-Birmingham, Friday, Marc h 18 at 11 a.m.
