Racer Tennis Takes Down WKU

MSU started the duel match by winning the doubles point when they took two of the three pairings. The duo of Jorge Caetano and Arthur Valle won their match 9-8 and after WKU defeated MSU's Mason Johnson and Jose Berardo 8-6, Luka Milievic and Renaldo Domoney secured the point with an 8-2 win.
In singles play, the Racers won four of the six matches including Caetano with a 6-2, 6-4 win, while Joao Camara won his match 6-0, 6-2. MSU's Domoney was a 6-2, 6-0 winner, with Valle winning a 10-2 tiebreaker after the first two sets went 6-7, 6-1. Johnson won his match 11-9 in a tiebreaker as the first two sets went 6-0, 2-6.
“I was really pleased with the effort and urgency we played with today,” MSU Head Coach Mel Purcell said. “With some big OVC matches coming up, this will give us some momentum moving forward.”
MSU's next challenge is March 25 and 26 when they host Ohio Valley Conference matches against Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State.
The Murray State men's tennis team defeated Western Kentucky Saturday afternoon 5-2 at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray, Ky.
The Racers upped their record to 3-10, while the Hilltoppers fell to 3-8.
