Women’s Tennis Earns Victory Over Eastern Kentucky

The Racers (5-10, 1-1 OVC) claimed the doubles point to start the match on a positive note. MSU dropped No. 2 doubles, the first pair to finish, when senior Alexis Webb and freshman Carla Suga were defeated by Myriem Mhirit and Anouk Faure, 8-1.
SeniorLindsey Wiseman and freshman Taylor Vick then picked up a win at No. 3 doubles (8-4) over Milena Poffo and Sophie O'Neill. Junior Cassidy Cunitz and sophomore Ashley Canty then sealed the point with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles over Jessica Albuquerque and Saioa Oscoz.
Webb finished first in singles action to give the Racers a 2-0 advantage when she defeated Oscoz 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. EKU made the score 2-2 with wins at No. 1 singles over Cunitz (6-4, 6-2) and No. 4 singles over Wiseman (6-3, 6-3). Canty gave MSU a 3-2 advantage with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Mhirit.
Suga secured the victory for MSU, with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Esmire Gheisary at No. 6 singles. Vick fell in the final match of the day at No. 5 singles (6-1, 5-7, 3-10).
The Racers are scheduled to play Morehead State, Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.
