Women’s Tennis Starts Spring Break Early

The Murray State women's tennis team will start their Spring Break a day early when it hits the road for the first of five matches over a 10-day Spring Break trip.

The Racers (3-6) will play two matches this weekend in the State of Alabama, with the first stop also accounting for the first Ohio Valley Conference match of the year. MSU will face Jacksonville State, Friday, March 11 on the JSU Tennis Courts starting at noon. The Racers are 7-2 all-time against the Gamecocks, with JSU earning its second win last season.

The second stop of the weekend will be Saturday, March 12 in Birmingham, Ala., to face Samford at 2:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are 7-1 overall this season and are set to face MSU and UT Martin on the same day at the Samford Tennis Center. The Racers had an 8-4 advantage in the all-time series, with the last match being played during the 2008-09 campaign. Samford has taken the last two victories in the series.

MSU will finish its Spring Break trip with three matches on the road during the next week. The Racers will face George Mason, Emory and UAB.
