Women’s Tennis Prepares for 2011 OVC Championship

MSU and the Lady Govs (8-10, 5-3 OVC) battled to a 4-3 decision, in favor of APSU, earlier this season in Murray, Ky.
The meeting between the two teams will be the third in the current tournament format, which began in 1995-96. The Lady Govs have earned wins in each of the previous two meetings in 2000 and 2010. A year ago APSU took a 4-0 win in the semifinals of the tournament and they earned a 4-3 win in 2000 in the first round.
Senior Alexis Webb, recently named OVC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, has a 3-2 record in the tournament in singles play and is 4-0 in doubles. Fellow senior Lindsey Wiseman is 1-0 in singles action and 2-0 in doubles (with Webb). Junior Cassidy Cunitz is 2-1 in singles play and 3-1 when playing doubles.
The Racers have appeared in all 16 OVC Championships since the league switched to a team format in 1995-96 from an individual point system.
