MSU lost the double point when Luka Milicevic and Redaldo Domoney lost their match 8-5. APSU took the point when MSU's Mason Johnson and Jose Berado lost 8-3. The Racer duo of Jorge Caetano and Arthur Valle did win their match 8-6.
The Racers had a rough afternoon in singles competition with only Valle getting a win. He defeated APSU's Remi Calleja 6-4, 6-3.
With the OVC Championship coming April 15 in Paducah, Ky., the Racers still have some work to do in order to qualify for the Post-season event.
“The doubles point is so important and we have struggled this season in that area,” MSU Head Coach Mel Purcell said. “It puts a lot of pressure on you when you lose the double point and then have to win four of the six singles matches. We can still get into the OVC tournament if we play the way I know we can, hopefully we'll be able to do that.”
The Racers return to action Wednesday when they host Vincennes at 2 p.m., and their next OVC battle is Friday at home against Eastern Kentucky at 10 a.m.
