OVC Softball Championships Page
Murray State softball opens up play at the OVC Softball Championships with the first game of the week against third-seeded UT Martin at 10 a.m. All games are being played at Williams Field on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.
The Skyhawks took all three meetings between the two teams this season, sweeping the Racers in the first OVC series of the season for both schools.
UTM (32-22, 19-10 OVC) has won its last three series, including two out of three this past weekend against Tennessee Tech. It held off the Golden Eagles in a 1-0 shutout victory Sunday afternoon that helped Murray State advance into the OVC Softball Championship.
Freshman Amanda Brandenburg has been one of the top players in the conference this season, ranking third in the OVC with an ERA of 2.32 and 13-3 record. She is also listed among the conference leaders with a .353 batting average this season.
The winner of Thursday morning's game will advance to play #2 seed Jacksonville State that afternoon at 3 p.m., and the loser will face the loser of SIU Edwardsville and Southeast Missouri Friday morning at 10 a.m.

For fans attending the action this week in person, tickets for adults are available for $7 for a single day or $15 for an all-session pass. Tickets for university students with ID and ages 3 to high school are $3 per day and $6 for the entire event.

BUCH TAKES OVC WEEKLY AWARD
Lauren Buch earned her second consecutive adidas OVC Player of the Week award of the season for the week of May 2-8.
Buch posted a pair of home runs as the Racers finished the week with a split against Western Kentucky and won two out of three at Jacksonville State to clinch the sixth seed in the OVC Championship.
She had six hits on the week to end the season as the OVC batting champion with an average of .421. Her two-run homer on Saturday against Jacksonville State scored the final runs in the Racers' 6-3 win.
