Men’s Tennis Opens Fall Schedule at Louisville Invitational

The Murray State men's tennis team played its first fall tournament of the 2011-12 campaign at Louisville, Sep. 16-18 at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Results

The Racers went 1-10 in singles play and 2-4 in doubles action in the tournament.

Junior Joao Camara earned the sole singles victory for MSU in the first round of Flight A singles. Camara defeated Jorg Van Der Vloet from Cleveland State (2-6, 6-3, 6-3). Camara then lost in the next round to the Cardinal's Van Damrongsri (6-4, 6-1).

Camara was also half of one of the two doubles partners that earned wins. Camara joined with sophomore Arthur Valle to defeat Austin Griffin and Davis Thraikill from Kenyon College in Flight A Doubles (8-4). Senior Jose Berardo and freshman Max McLean also teamed up to earned an 8-3 doubles win over Griffin and Thraikill in the consolation round of Flight A Doubles.

The Racers will return to the court, Oct. 8-9 for the Paducah Sun Invitational in Paducah, Ky. before hosting their final competition of the fall season (Nov. 4-6) at Kenlake Tennis Center.
