Racers Host Bethel Tuesday At The CFSB Center

The Murray State Racers take on the Bethel Wildcats in a 7 p.m. tip Tuesday at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky. MSU enters the game 5-1 after an 88-79 win (Nov. 26) at Lipscomb in which the Racers pushed their school-record road win streak to 14. MSU is 2-0 at home this season.
The Racers' series with Bethel dates back to the first meeting in 1926. The teams did not meet between 1934 and 1977. Their last meeting was in 2010 at the CFSB Center, a Racer win 94-52.
MSU's All-America Isaiah Canaan is making a strong run at becoming the sixth member of the MSU 2000-Point Club and his now up to 15th on MSU's all-time scoring list with 1,509 points. Canaan has back-to-back 30-point games coming into the Bethel game. Canaan needs 18 three-point baskets to catch all-time MSU leader Frank Allen who had 251 from 1989-93.
Ed Daniel is off to a great senior season and enters the Bethel game with four straight double-doubles. The last two games Daniel has set his career high with 15 rebounds against Old Dominion and 18 against Lipscomb.
MSU's school-record road winning streak is 14, the longest streak in 88 years of Racer Basketball. MSU hasn't lost on the road since March 15, 2011 at Missouri State in the NIT. Their next road challenge is at Evansville this Saturday.
In the recent NCAA national statistics MSU among the nation's best in three-point field goals per game, where they rank third nationally with 10 per game and 20th in defending the three-point shot as opponents are hitting only 25 percent. Canaan's 22.5 scoring average is tops in the Ohio Valley Conference and eighth in the nation. Daniel's 11.3 rebound average is also tops in the league and ranks him seventh in the nation.
MSU Athletics released the Racer TV Network network schedule this week with plans to air eight games this season. The first is MSU's game at Evansville with an air time of 12:45 p.m.
Bethel is 11-1 after beating Brescia on Thursday 75-50. They defeated Morthland on Sunday 82-63 win. BU is led in scoring by Caleb Hardy at 15.4 points per game, while Darnell Moore leads with 8.8 rebounds per game.
