Racers Improve To 27-1 With 80-62 Road Win At Tennessee State

The Murray State Racers stayed undefeated on the road this season with an 80-62 win Thursday against Tennessee State at the Gentry Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Isaiah Canaan led the way for MSU with 24 points, while Donte Poole added 16 as the hot shooting duo was a combined 9-of-15 from three point range.
The Racers (27-1) had already clinched the Ohio Valley Conference title and moved to 14-1 this season in league play and gained a win over TSU after dropping their only game of the season to the Tigers at home (Feb. 9).
MSU used a 14-0 run in the final 2:30 of the first half to get control of the game
Leading 31-28, the Racers' defense came up with four straight stops and cashed in on the offensive end with an amazing four threes including one at the buzzer by Poole. Latreze Mushatt, Zay Jackson and Canaan also hit threes in the Racers' blitz to the half. The Racers tied their season-high going 12-of-22 and held TSU to 2-of-15.
The Racers kept the pressure on TSU and went ahead 58-38 with 13:21 remaining on a corner three by Mushatt. TSU got as close as 12 at the 3:55 mark, but never got any closer.
MSU shot 58 percent from the field (26-of-46) and held the Tigers to 40 percent (23-of-57)..
Zay Jackson came off the bench to score 11 points, grab four rebounds and dish out five assists in 17 minutes.
Jewuan Long led the Racers defensive effort with four steals and two blocks.
MSU is 27-1 and started the week ranked 12th in the ESPN/USA Today poll and 14th in the Associated Press Poll.
The Racers are 12-0 this season away from home, and are the winningest team in the nation in NCAA D-I.
The Racers look to finish the regular season on a positive note Saturday when they play the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a 7:30 p.m. tip at the Eblen Center in Cookeville, Tenn. The game will be aired on the Racer TV Network and ESPN3.
