Three Murray State student-athletes have been selected to participate in the 2012 NCAA Career in Sports Forum. The national Forum will be held in Indianapolis, Ind., from June 7-10. Of the 650 applicants to attend the Forum, only 300 were selected by the NCAA Student-Athlete Affairs committee to attend the event. Student-athletes are selected from across the country and from all three NCAA divisions.
The three participants representing Racer Athletics are Chris Staten of football, Ashley Rose of rifle, and Bridget Stichnot of women's track and field.
The NCAA Career in Sports Forum is a four-day event through which selected student-athletes explore and are educated on careers in sports, with a primary focus on intercollegiate athletics. The participants are given an educational opportunity to learn and gain valuable exposure to careers in sports, specifically in the areas of coaching, administration and sports entertainment. They examine key functions of a coach or administrator within athletics, including foundational skills such as communication, networking, recruiting, managing culture, transitioning, and budgeting. Additionally, the Forum dispels myths about careers in athletics, as well as facilitates the opportunity to obtain information from current and future athletics professionals.
Staten will participate in the Forum on the coaching track, while Rose and Stichnot will partake in the administration track.
