The Murray State baseball team begins its final week of the 2012 season as they host #2 Kentucky at Brooks Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on 99.5 FM and 1560 AM in Paducah with Ed Taylor on the call. There will also be streaming audio at WestKyStar.com.
Tickets are still available by calling the MSU Ticket Office at 270-809-3000. Tickets will also be available, cash only, at the stadium. Gates open at 3:30 p.m.
The Breds and the Wildcats are meeting for the second time this season. Back in March, the teams were locked in a pitchers duel at Cliff Hagan Stadium, with UK escaping with a 2-1 victory. Tonight will feature the same pitching matchup as MSU will send left hander Bryan Babin to the mound, while the Wildcats will counter with right hander Chandler Shepherd.
Babin was the tough-luck loser as he allowed two runs on seven hits over six innings. The only blemish came on a two-run home run from Cameron Flynn in the sixth inning. Shepherd did not factor in the decision after throwing 5.1 innings of three-hit shutout baseball.
Travis Isaak and Paul Ritzheimer led the offense with two hits apiece, with Isaak's double to left center plating the only run in the seventh inning.
The Breds close out the 2012 regular season this weekend as they welcome Eastern Kentucky to Reagan Field on May 17-19. The series is set to get underway Thursday at 3 p.m.
