Austin Peay led from start to finish in the second stanza, utilizing a 10-0 run in the middle of the set to even the match at 1-1.
The third set was another tight battle that MSU was able to secure. Neither team led by more than four at any point and the match was tied as late as 17-17. Murray State scored seven of the next 10 points and held on for their second 25-22 win, giving them a 2-1 lead in the match.
That lead was short lived as APSU again led from start to finish evening up the match, 2-2. They raced out to a 10-5 lead and cruised to a 25-17 win. Liz Landon led the Governors with seven kills in the set.
APSU had all the momentum to start the fifth set, taking an 11-5 lead thanks in part to four kills and a block from Lauren Henderson. Following an MSU timeout, the Racers came out and scored seven of the next nine points to even the set, 13-13. Murray State couldn't pull ahead though, and the Governors ended the match with a pair of kills from Liz Landon.
