Men’s Tennis Competes at Fall Regionals

Murray State men's tennis traveled to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Fall Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Tennessee.
Senior Adam Taylor was able to pick up the lone victory for the Racers, defeating Artem Tarasov of OVC rival Tennessee Tech, 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round. Taylor's run came to an end in the Round of 64 though, as he fell to David O'Leary of Memphis, 6-3, 6-1.
Junior Max McLean lost a hard-fought battle with David O'Hare of the University of Memphis, 6-3, 6-1 in the opening round. McLean was also defeated in the consolation round, dropping his match to Pavels Grigorjevs of Tennessee-Chattanooga, 6-3, 6-2.
Taylor and McLean teamed up at doubles where they were bested by the tandem of Aaron Dujovne and Mark Kovacs of Purdue. The match saw the Racers fall in a tight one, 8-6.
Nicholas Mitric was defeated in his opening round match with Ryan Smith of Vanderbilt, 6-0, 6-2. He also fell in the consolation round to Akshay Verma of IUPUI.
Aleks Mitric fell in his opening round match to Daniel Hernandez of Lipscomb 6-0, 6-0. In the consolation round, Mitric was defeated by Hayden Joblin of Wright State, 6-1, 6-3.
Nicholas and Aleks Mitric also competed at doubles where they fell to Joblin and Ricardo Pineda of Wright State, 8-1.
The tournament concludes with both singles and doubles taking place tomorrow.
The Racers final tournament of the 2013 calendar year is the fourth annual Murray-Kenlake Invitational. The tournament will run from Nov. 1-3.
