The Murray State Women's Tennis Team will open the 2013 season on Sunday when the Racers host fourth-ranked, NAIA powerhouse Lindsey Wilson at 1 p.m. from the Kenlake State Park Tennis Center.
The Racers are led by first year head coach Olga Elkin who joined MSU this past summer after spending the previous two seasons at Kennesaw State. Murray State is 4-2 all-time in head coaching debuts and 24-22 overall in season openers.
On Friday the Racers were selected to finish fourth in the OVC this season, as voted on by the league's coaches. A poll of the top ten players in the conference was also taken and Murray State senior Ashley Canty was picked as the fifth-ranked player in the league.
Canty and junior Carla Suga were All-OVC Second Team selections a season ago. Canty compiled an OVC record of 6-3 last season and went 11-11 overall in dual matches, while Suga went 8-1 in OVC play and 16-7 in dual matches in 2012.
