The Murray State Racers (18-7, 9-4) meet the Morehead State Eagles (13-14, 7-6) in a battle of founding members of the Ohio Valley Conference when they play at Johnson Arena Wednesday in a 6 p.m. CT tip.
The Racer TV Network will air the game in the Purchase Area of west Kentucky on the cable systems of Time Warner, Mediacom, Murray Electric and Comcast. The game will also be streamed online by ESPN3 and the OVC Digital Network. Racer Radio has the game over the air on WFGE 103.7 FM with Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com will providing online audio.
The Racers are coming off a week unlike any they've experienced in several seasons. The Racers were upset twice last week in a 65-60 loss at SIUE and a 79-70 defeat at Eastern Illinois on Saturday. Coupled with a road loss at Jacksonville State 65-54 (Jan. 26), MSU has dropped three straight road games for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
MSU leads the west division of the OVC at 9-4 and can still wrap up the division title and one of the top two seed spots for the upcoming OVC Tournament with a win at Morehead, or a loss by SEMO at Jacksonville State.
Head Coach Steve Prohm, already the fastest to 40 wins at MSU, will be the fastest to 50 the next time the Racers are victorious.
MSU enters the game closing on the program's 1,500th all-time win. MSU is 1,496-831 (.642) in their 88th season of college basketball. MSU reached its 600th OVC win their OVC opener at UT Martin (Jan. 3) and are 608-315 (.658).
The Racers' senior class of four-year players Isaiah Canaan, Ed Daniel and Jordan Burge have posted 103 wins to this point. With their next win, this group will tie the all-time record for a class of 104 that was set just last season by Ivan Aska, Lewuan Long and Donte Poole.
All-America Canaan (Currently with 1,889 points) enters the Morehead State game looking to become the sixth member of the MSU 2000-Point Club and the 17th in the history of the OVC. He is the top scorer in the OVC and was ninth in the nation as the week started with 20.6 points per game. Daniel is the top rebounder in the OVC and is seventh in the nation with 10.4 per game. He is 10 blocked shots from becoming the all-time shot blocker in MSU history.
