Racers Host Jackrabbits In Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters

The Murray State Racers (19-7, 9-4) host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits (21-8, 12-3) in nationally televised match-up of two of the nation's top mid-major teams in the Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters. The meeting marks the first between the Racers and Jackrabbits and the final go-around for the BracketBusters event as the format will not be continued beyond this season.
ESPN2 makes a visit to the CFSB Center for national television and the game will also be streamed online by ESPN3. Racer Radio has the game over the air on WFGE 103.7 FM with Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com providing online audio.
The game matches two teams that are at the top of their respective conferences. The Racers have clinched the top seed out of the Ohio Valley Conference west division at 10-4 and SDSU leads the Summit League at 12-3 and is a win from clinching the title. SDSU was 17th this week in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25, while the Racers were 18th.
Two of the top scorers in the nation also meet in this game on the Racers' home floor when Isaiah Canaan faces Nate Wolters. Both are seniors and being considered for every major award in college basketball. Wolters is scoring 23.1 points per game and was ranked third in the nation, while Canaan puts in 21.2 per game and was 10th in Monday's report from the NCAA. Canaan has 1,924 points and is 76 from becoming the sixth player at MSU and the 17th in the OVC to reach 2,000 points and is 6th all-time at MSU. Wolters is SDSU's all-time leading scorer with 2,252 points. Both were their conference preseason MVP.
Both teams played on the road Wednesday and both played double overtime games with mixed results. The Racers won 106-100 at Morehead State, while the Jackrabbits lost at Cal State - Bakersfield 79-78.
MSU has won their last three BracketBusters games over Saint Mary's (2012), Evansville (2011) and Morgan State (2010) since their last loss in 2009 to Louisiana Tech, all at home. MSU is 6-1 in the special event since their first game at Rice in 2005 which was a 69-63 win. The other half of the BracketBusters is the return game which MSU will make to Brookings, S.D. in 2014. MSU will make their return game to Saint Mary's next season. MSU is 5-2 in return games including a 82-70 win in December at Evansville. MSU is 11-3 in all games involving the BracketBusters.
