Five in a Row at Home
The Breds have won four-straight games at Reagan Field and will be looking to match the five-game home winning streak from a season ago. That win streak also started with a victory over Mid-Continent.
Paradossi Reaches Four Times
Catcher Nick Paradossi may have only been 1-for-1 in the game against Kentucky, but the junior reached safely in four plate appearances. After doubling in his first at-bat, Paradossi drew a walk in each of his next three plate appearances.
First-Inning Runs
The Breds have enjoyed success when they have scored in the first inning. MSU has scored at least one run in the first inning in each of the last five games, going 4-1 in that span. Leadoff hitter Ty Stetson has been the catalyst as he has scored in the first inning in four of the five games.
Double Play Ball
The Breds infield has helped its pitching staff this season as they have turned 11 double plays this season. MSU turned four in the weekend series against Bowling Green, including three inning-ending twin killings to the 2-1 victory.
Weekend Relief
The Breds got quality work out of their bullpen against Bowling Green as three different pitchers earned their first career saves. John Rafferty allowed just one hit over 1.1 innings to pick up the save, while Brock Downey retired all seven hitters he faced on Saturday. Andrew Bramley had the longest outing, allowing just two hits over four innings in the finale. None of the three pitchers allowed a run.
Seventh-Inning Stretch
The Breds found their bats after the stretch last week as they had their two biggest innings of the season in the seventh inning. In the home opener, MSU pushed across nine runs in the seventh, then came back with six runs in the seventh to defeat Bowling Green in the series opener.
Catcher by Committee
The Breds have used a catching rotation through the early part of the season. The trio of Dalton West, Nick Paradossi and Rick Linton have rotated, in that order, through the first seven games of the season.
On Deck
The Breds close out their four-game homestand as they welcome Southern Illinois to Reagan Field on March 5. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
