The Murray State women's tennis team fell to nationally-ranked Memphis on Sunday afternoon, losing to the 25th-ranked Tigers 7-0. The match was the Racers' first this season against a top-25 opponent. The Racers (3-5) dropped to 0-2 on the year in road matches.

In doubles play, the Racers dropped a pair of matches at number one and number two doubles 8-4. The team of Ashley Canty and Carolyn Huerth fell to the tandem of Tiffany Welcher and Alyssa Hibberd, while at number three, Megan Blue and Carla Suga lost to Stefanie Mikesz and Caroline Wegner. The tandem of Erin Patton and Suzaan Stoltz lost 8-0 at number three.

In the singles portion of the match, Canty fell at number one, 6-0 and 6-1. Suga lost in straight sets at number two singles 6-2, 6-2 and Blue lost at three, 6-1, 6-4. At number four, Patton lost 6-4, 6-2 and Huerth and Stoltz rounded-out singles play by losing at five and six, respectively. Huerth was downed 6-2, 6-0 and Stoltz fell 6-1, 6-2.

The Racers return to action with a pair of matches next weekend as they open up OVC play. MSU will host Morehead State on Saturday and Eastern Kentucky on Sunday.
