Bettis Sets Two School Records at Louisville

Sharda Bettis set a pair of school records and won both the 100- and 400-meter hurdles Friday night at the Louisville Twilight.

First, in the prelims of the 100 hurdles, Bettis set the school record for the third time this season, recording a time of 13.57. Bettis wasted little time breaking her own record for the fourth time in the finals when she ran a time of 13.53 to take the victory. In the 400 hurdles, Bettis set a new program record by running a time of 1:00.26 and winning the event.

All-American Alexis Love picked up a pair of victories Friday as well for the Racers. Love ran a time of 11.57 in the 100-meter dash and followed that performance up with a season-best time of 23.81 in the 200.

Tonia Pratt also made the trip to Louisville. Pratt had a solid meet for MSU. Pratt finished third in the hammer throw recording a throw of 175'-9”. The toss is the second-best throw in school history, a mark Pratt set last week at the OVC Championships.

Pratt also recorded the second-best throw in MSU history in the discus Friday. Pratt finished fifth at the meet with a mark of 154'-10.5”. Pratt also placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 41'-3.5”.

All three Racers are looking to advance to the NCAA East Region May 25-27 in Greensboro, N.C.
