Bettis and Love Qualify for NCAA Regional

The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants in the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships competition.
The Preliminary championships competitions will be held May 23-25. The East region will be held at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. and the West region at Texas in Austin, Texas. The qualifiers out of these regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
Murray State track athletes Sharda Bettis and Alexis Love have qualified for the East region. Bettis will be participating in the 100-meter hurdles for the Racers. Bettis holds the school record in the event with a time of 13.53. Bettis broke the school record on four separate occasions this season.
The All-American Love will be running in the 100- and 200-meter dash. Love's best time this season in the 100 was 11.47, and her 200-meter best is 23.81. Love placed sixth in the 100 at last season's NCAA Outdoor Championships and made it to the semifinals in the 200.
