Racers Win 5th Straight At Home 91-77 Over UTM

The Murray State Racers pushed their mark in the Ohio Valley Conference to 2-0 Sunday with a 91-77 win over the UT Martin Skyhawks at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
Cameron Payne set his career-high for the second time this week with 27 points on 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range, while Jarvis Williams had his sixth double-double of the season with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Jeffery Moss added 20 points to the Racer attack and T.J. Sapp tossed in 14.
Moss tied the MSU single game free throw record by going 14-of-14. Jeff McClain did the same in 2008 against St. Catharine's and Don Duncan did it in 1966 against Oglethorpe.
MSU moved to 6-0 this season when winning the rebound battle as they led UTM on the boards 40-23. MSU's Jonathan Fairell complimented the board action with seven rebounds.
The Racers used a 12-0 in the late first half and led 40-30 at the break.
The Racers (7-7) hit the road for a Wednesday OVC game at Eastern Kentucky. Tip time is 6 p.m. CT from McBrayer Arena in Richmond, Ky. The game will be heard over the air on Racer Radio on WGFE 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. The Racer TV Network will air the game on the local cable systems of Time Warner, Mediacom and Murray Electric. The game will also be streamed online at ESPN3.com.

The Racers has won the rebound battle in consecutive OVC games and beat the Skyhawks 40-23. MSU is 6-0 this season when winning the stat and 0-7 when the opponent does. In the Prohm era, the Racers are 37-5 if they win the battle of the boards.

MSU leads the all-time series with UT Martin 42-4 including a 23-1 mark at home. MSU plays at UTM on the second to last game of the season in Martin, Tenn., on February 27.
