Racers Honor Senior Class On Final Home Game

The Murray State Racers saw their seven game home streak stopped Sunday in a 2-0 loss to the Belmont Bruins at Cutchin Field in Murray, Ky.
The Racers, who had won four-straight fell to 10-8 overall and 6-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while the Bruins improved to 6-7-4 and 3-4-2.
The Racers had some good scoring chances in the first half, but couldn't get one to go. But MSU held Belmont scoreless and there was a scoreless first half.
Belmont took the lead 1-0 in the 60th minute on a goal by Allie Hicks. She added another in the 81st minute.
The day also marked senior day for MSU Soccer as they said goodbye to the senior class who played their final game at Cutchin Field.
Other results in Sunday OVC play included first place SIUE getting a 2-0 win over Tennessee Tech. SEMO beat Jacksonville State 2-0 and Morehead State defeated Eastern Illinois 5-0. UT Martin beat Austin Peay 4-0. The point standings in the OVC heading into the final week of play has SIUE on top with 24 points, with SEMO in second place with 21 and UT Martin in third place with 19. The Racers are in fourth with 18, ahead of JSU with 15 and Morehead State with 14.
The Racers play the regular season finale Friday at 7 p.m. at UT Martin.
The top six teams will play in the conference tournament with the top two seeds earning a bye to the semifinals. Seeds three through six will play in the opening round. The OVC Tournament will be played at the champion's home field starting Nov. 5.
