Way Downtown! Racers Hit 13 Threes Against Alcorn

The Murray State Racers won their 200th game at the CFSB Center with a 94-56 victory Wednesday over the Alcorn State Braves. In their 17th season in the arena, MSU is 200-34 for an amazing winning percentage of 85 percent.
The Racers (7-4) pushed their winning streak to five and their home win streak to four.
Jarvis Williams led a quartet of Racers in double-figure scoring with 22 points and MSU also got a season-high 21 points from T.J. Sapp. Cameron Payne was an assist from a double-double with 14 points, while Jeffery Moss tossed in 10 points and six rebounds.
Williams helped the Racers start fast when he scored 11 points in the first nine minutes of the half. His rebound and score at the 11:00 mark gave MSU a 17-11 lead. Sapp hit the Racers' first three 3-pointers. His third pushed MSU in front 22-13 at 9:56.
MSU finished the half with a 10-0 run capped by a buzzer 3-pointer from Moss to give the Racers a 40-24 lead.
The Racers' run went all the way to 16-0 at the start of the second half for a 53-26 lead when Sapp hit a three with 16:37 left.
MSU eventually pushed ahead of ASU 88-46 with 2:29 remaining.

MSU's remarkable home court advantage has spanned not only the 17 years in the CFSB Center, but before that, the Racers held a 78 percent win rate at Racer Arena for 44 seasons. Additionally, MSU had win rates of more than 80 percent at Carr Health Building and Lovett Auditorium. In all, MSU's all-time home success reads 943-229 (.803). The Racers are 200-34 at the CFSB Center.
The Racers had an impressive 25 assists tonight on their 31 field goals.
MSU was 13-of-22 from 3-point range tonight and have made an amazing 46 of them in the last four games.
Fairell has eight steals in the last two games.
Jarvis Williams had a career-high four assists. He also made a career-high 10 free throws.
Sapp tied his career-high with five made 3-pointers.
Moss had a season-high six rebounds.
MSU is 17-0 all-time against teams from the SWAC and now 6-0 against Alcorn State. MSU has one more game with a member of the SWAC (Dec. 30) when they host Alabama A&M.
The Racers host the Illinois State Redbirds in a 3 p.m. tip Saturday at the CFSB Center. ISU and the Racers will be meeting for only the second time after they first met in 1971.
The doubleheader day begins at 1 p.m. when the Racer women's team hosts the Jacksonville Dolphins.
