Racers Shine at Hilltopper Relays

Murray State's women's track team took part in the Hilltopper Relays this weekend, hosted by Western Kentucky.
Junior Tonia Pratt took home first place in the hammer throw, coming up just shy of her personal-best with a throw of 56.06m (183' 11"). Pratt also competed in the shot put (13.57m, 44' 6.25") and discus (43.96m, 144' 3").
Freshman Victoria Yocum set a pair of PR's in her individual events. Running in the open 400m dash for the first time this season Yocum finished in fourth place with a time of 57.64. She also came in 14th place in the 200m dash with a time of 25.12.
Fellow sprinter Hannah McAllister placed two spots ahead of Yocum in the 200m dash in 12th place, crossing the line in 25.04. McAllister set a personal-best in the 100m dash, finishing in fifth place in 12.00.
In addition to Pratt, the field events also excelled in part because of Sydney Potts and Kiara Austin. Potts came up a bit shy of a personal-best in the javelin throw, but finishing in second place with a distance of 41.39m (135' 9"). Austin set a personal best in the long jump, 5.33m (17' 6").
Katie Forshey also set an outdoor personal best in the high jump. Her jump of 1.66m (5' 5.25") placed her second overall.
Emma Gilmore also finished in second place in the 800m run. Gilmore crossed the line in 2:15.34.
The Racers will next head up to Columbus, Ohio for the famous Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State. The meet will take place April 18-19.
