It has been quite a run since Thanksgiving for the Murray State Racers. After starting the season 2-4, MSU has now reeled off 14 straight wins to have the third best streak in the nation as they travel to Edwardsville, Ill. The game will tip at 7 p.m. at SIUE's Vadalabene Center.Â
The Racers are 16-4 overall and 6-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. MSU is the only undefeated team in OVC play after their 77-62 win Thursday at Eastern Illinois. SIUE hammered out a close 69-65 win to move their overall mark to 8-10 and 4-3 in the OVC.
All Murray State games are heard over free radio on WFGE Froggy 103.7 FM and online at Froggy103.com and GoRacers.com. Neal Bradley is in his 24th season as the Voice of the Racers. Former MSU assistant coach Kenny Roth provides analysis. The game is also free online at OVCDigitalNetwork.com
The Racers have the nation's third longest winning streak at 14-straight. They trail only Kentucky and Virginia who have each started the season 18-0 and are the final undefeated teams in the nation. Stephen F. Austin also has won 14 straight and are tied with the Racers for the third spot in current win streaks.
The Racers are tied with Virginia, Gonzaga, VCU and Wichita State with the best road win streak at six in a row. Since MSU's loss at Xavier (Nov. 24), MSU has run off wins at Evansville, SIU, Morehead State, Tennessee Tech, Jacksonville State and EIU.
As they did at EIU, both coaching staffs will wear court shoes for the NABC Coaches vs Cancer effort to bring awareness to the fight against cancer.Â
The Racers are also closing on their 28th straight winning season. The Racers came into the season trailing only Syracuse, Kansas and Arizona in this stat. MSU's remarkable run of winning seasons has been accomplished by seven different coaches.Â
MSU Head Coach Steve Prohm, already the fastest Racer coach to 50 and 75 wins is in line to be the fastest to 100 wins. He is 91-27 going into the SIUE game. If the winning continues he has a chance to crack the NCAA Top-25.
