Murray State women's basketball team continues its road stretch at Cookeville, Tennessee. The Racers will take on Tennessee Tech in their second conference game of the season. The battle between the Racers and the Golden Eagles is set for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Â

MSU took a heartbreaking loss 64-63 to Morehead State in the conference opener. The entirety of the game was a close battle as the two teams fought for the lead. Morehead State maintained their lead for most of the second half, but Murray State did not let them run away with the score. MSU regained the lead at the 8:20 mark when Keiona Kirby pulled up and made a jumper for a 51-49 lead. The final seconds of the game brought some key plays, while Murray State held a 63-61 lead, the Eagles had possession of the ball and hit a three that gave them with a 64-63 lead with 2.0 seconds left. The Racers were unable to get a shot off, and fell 64-63 to the Eagles. Ke'Shunan James led the team with 13 points, while Bianca Babic drained four from behind-the-arc to add 12. Keiona Kirby tied her career-high 11 rebounds as the team outrebounded the Eagles by 13. Murray State had 11 steals, and 19 points off of Morehead State's turnovers.

The Golden Eagles have started conference play with losses to Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville. During the game against SIUE, Tennessee Tech grabbed down 30 rebounds, and was able to score 29 points off of turnovers. Candace Parson scored points, while Samaria Howard added 12. T'Keyah Williams and Parson both pulled down team-high six rebounds. Shunice Herron dished out 10 assists in the loss for the Golden Eagles.
