This Weekend
The Racers host a pair of Illinois teams at Racer Arena as Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville come to town for Homecoming Weekend. This weekend's matches will be just the second and third matches played at home so far this season for MSU.
Last Time Out
Murray State opened its 2015 home slate with its fourth consecutive sweep and improved to 4-0 in conference play with a victory over Austin Peay Wednesday night. Scottie Ingram led the Racers with 14 kills in the win and hit .344, while Alyssa Lelm added 13 kills and hit a team-best .478. Sam Bedard recorded a double-double with 45 assists and 11 digs and Ellie Lorenz led the squad with 14 digs.
Streaking
MSU is on a pair of winning streaks that it will look to extend this weekend. The Racers' current 12-match home winning streak and 11-match winning streak this season are both the second-longest streaks in program history. The school record for consecutive home wins is 14 set during the 2002 season and extended into 2003. 14 wins in a row is also the record for most consecutive wins in school history, also set in 2003.
Approaching Milestones
Lorenz will become the 16th member of the 1,000-dig club in MSU history with just 11 more digs. Bedard is also close to the club, needing 77 more digs to reach the milestone. Bedard is also 276 digs from moving into fourth on the all-time career assists list at MSU. Lelm is just four total blocks and 10 blocking assists shy of moving into fourth-place on those all-time lists.
Top-10
With her eight kills against Austin Peay, Taylor Olden moved into 10th-place on the all-time kills list in Racer history. Olden's 1,022 career kills surpassed Ashley Nenninger's (2007-10) 1,020 on the list and is just two shy from passing Krista Shumard (1996-99) for ninth.
Scouting Eastern Illinois
The Panthers return a trio of student-athletes who were named to All-OVC team's in 2014. Marah Bradbury and Abby Saalfrank were both named to the All-OVC team a season ago, while Allie Hueston was named to the All-Newcomer squad. Hueston leads EIU with 164 kills this season and is second in the OVC with a .347 attack percentage and Chelsea Lee leads the team averaging 2.79 kills per set. Bradbury leads the Panthers with 538 assists this season, while Stephanie Wallace leads the back row with 320 digs. Samantha Wolinski is in her first season as the head coach at EIU.
