Racers Set to Host OVC Tournament

OVC Tournament
The Racers look to defend their OVC Tournament crown this week as Murray State will host the tournament by virtue of its regular season conference title. Top-seeded MSU will face the eighth-seed Southeast Missouri in the opening round. The Racers swept the Redhawks in both previous meetings this season. The winner of the tournament will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
All-OVC
Scottie Ingram became the sixth player in league history to be named OVC Player of the Year in back-to-back years, head coach David Schwepker became the fifth coach in OVC history to win Coach of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons and the seventh coach to win multiple honors and Sam Bedard became the inaugural OVC Setter of the Year winner, to headline the All-OVC honors for Murray State, announced Wednesday night at the OVC Tournament banquet. Kristen Besselsen was also named to the All-OVC Team.
Winning Streak
Dating back to last season, the Racers have won a program record 19 consecutive matches at Racer Arena, including three matches during the 2014 OVC Tournament. Over that time, MSU has recorded 15 sweeps and has lost just four sets total.

Scouting Southeast Missouri
The Redhawks used a balanced attack as they have three players with over 250 kills on the season. All-OVC member Nzingha Clarke leads the way with 299 kills and a .329 hitting percentage. Krissa Gearring and Madalyn Werth have 287 and 254 kills, respectively. Clarke also leads the team with 1.04 blocks per set. As a team, SEMO leads the OVC in blocks per set during league play with 2.40. MSU swept the Redhawks in both previous meetings this season, the first, in the OVC opener and the second two weekends ago. SEMO is led by Head Coach Julie Yankus.
