The Murray State women's basketball team begins its two-game road swing through the Sunshine state Thursday as the Racers take on Jacksonville at 10 a.m. central time in Florida. The Racers are looking to extend their two-game winning streak.
MSU is coming off an 89-64 victory Monday at the CFSB Center against Blue Mountain. The Racers scored 50 points in the second half on 19-of-32 shooting. Ke'Shunan James led the way offensively with 26 points. Kyra Gulledge scored a career-high 15 on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting from the floor while Bianca Babic added 14 on 4-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc. Jashae Lee had career-highs in blocks and assists with four each in the win.
The two teams faced one another last season in the two's only other meeting all-time. The Racers picked up an 80-62 victory last year at The Bank and were led by Keiona Kirby's 20 points. James had 17 points, seven boards and six assists in the win as well.
The Dolphins are led by a pair of scorers averaging over 12 points per game in Kayla Gordon and Sherranda Reddick. The duo is averaging 12.8 and 12.6 points per, respectively. Briona Brown is third on the squad averaging 10.9 a contest. Gordon also leads JU in rebounding averaging 9.5 a contest. Reddick leads the team in 3-point shooting as she averages two 3-pointers made per game and also is shooting a team-best 34.5 percent from beyond the arc.
The Dolphins are a perfect 3-0 this season at home with wins over Thomas, Edward Waters and Florida International. The average margin of victory in those three contests is nearly 38 points. Jacksonville is led by Head Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin who is in her third season with the program.
