MSU Wins 22nd Straight - Celebrates OVC Title

The Murray State Racers pushed their winning streak to 22 Saturday with an 89-54 win over the visiting Austin Peay Governors at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky.
The Racers (24-4) remained undefeated in the Ohio Valley Conference at 14-0.
Cameron Payne led the way with 22 points on 5-of-8 shooting from long range, while dishing out eight assists. Jonathan Fairell and Jeffery Moss each scored 13 points. Wayne Langston came off the bench to score a career-high 11 points, while Jarvis Williams added 10 points.
The Racers took control of the game early with a 22-11 start and pushed it to a 37-25 lead when Payne hit a 3-pointer at the first half buzzer.
MSU started the second half on a 12-2 run to go in front 61-27 with 16:30 left.
The Racers have one more home game in the regular season and it will be a special night. Thursday, the Racers host Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m. at the CFSB Center. It is Senior Day as the Racers say goodbye to Jonathan Fairell, T.J. Sapp and Jarvis Williams.
With a win Thursday, the Racers will tie the school and OVC record of 23 in a row set by the 2011-12 team that started the season 23-0.
After the game, the Racers were presented the OVC regular season championship by OVC Commissioner Beth DeBauche. MSU clinched the title a week ago with their win at Southeast Missouri State (Feb. 14).

Jarvis Williams continued his rush to 1,000 career points. With 10 points today, he now has 934. Junior Jeffery Moss had 13 points today and now has 892. Cameron Payne already joined the MSU 1000-Point Club this season and has moved to the No. 28 spot on the MSU all-time scoring list with 1,124 points. Payne will soon pass No. 27. Chris Shumate (1999-04) at 1,207 points.
Head Coach Steve Prohm recorded his 99th win today and is set to become the fastest in MSU history to 100 wins with one more.
The Racers reached the magic 80-point number today. This season, MSU is 16-0 when scoring 80+ and 43-3 in the Prohm era.
