One-Mile School Record Broken at SIU

Murray State track & field competed at the SIU Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Day Two
Emma Gilmore broke the 1-mile school record and set a new one at 4:59.58, Brittany Bohn followed closely behind that record for a new career-best of 4:59.64.

In the 1-mile, Heatherly Paschall set a new personal record of 5:32.51, while Emily Evans set a new season-high of 5:52.93. Rebecca Morris completed the mile in 6:13.82.

During the 60m dash, Deja Rodgers and LaShea Shaw went into the finals after they finished in 7.81 and 7.86, respectively. During the finals, the two ran respective times of 7.81 and 7.77.

Olivia Brice, Summer Wheeler and Sarah Bindel competed in the 60m dash for the first time and ran in respective times of 8.88, 8.17, and 8.64. Victoria Yocum also competed in the 60m and ran it in 8.02. Morgan McNeely and Taylor McCammon ran in 8.09 and 8.19, respectively.

During the 200m, Deja Rodgers ran it in 25.99, while Morgan McNeely completed the dash in 26.56. Victoria Yocum finished in a season-high 26.64, while Olivia Brice had a career-best 27.03.

Tia Weston ran the 400m in a career-best time of 59.90, and Morgan McNeely also had a career-best finish of 1:02.40. Summer Wheeler and Sarah Bindel finished the 400 in 1:01.94 and 1:06.23, respectively.

Almost everyone had a season-best or career-best finish in the 800m dash. Raeven Wilson had a season-best finish of 2:24.49, while Vallery Korir had a career-best 2:24.95. Jacquelyn Thate and Emani Griffin ran personal best times of 2:25.63 and 2:25.75, respectively. Kimmy Siebert finished in a season-high 2:36.55, while Heatherly Paschall finished in 2:36.25. Emily Evans had a season-best 2:40.83 finish along with Rebecca Morris who had a personal best finish of 2:54.57.

The 3000m was another track event where many Racers finished in personal best or season best times. Brittany Bohn has a new personal best with a time of 10:10.34. Ali Hester, Caroline Grogan, and Emma Gilmore followed closely behind each other with respective personal bests of 10:23.75, 10:24.30, and 10:25.06. Meagan Smith had a personal best 10:32.69, while Leah Krause made a new personal time of 10:38.38. Abbie Oliver finished in 10:45.60, while Emily Flaherty and Rebekah Priddy had personal bests of 10:56.99 and 11:05.41.

LaShea Shaw qualified into the finals when she finished the 60m hurdles in 8.90. During the finals she finished in a season best 8.62. Taylor McCammon finished in 9.20, while Ashley Conway and Sydney Potts finished in 9.74. Kennedy Berkley has a new personal best with 9.81, while Kristen Higgins finished in 9.96. Sarah Bindel finished in a respective time of 10.12.

Three Racers competed in the shot put during the invitational. Abbie Lukens threw 12.49m 40'11.75", while Ashley Conway threw 11.34m 37'2.50". Darcy Sullivan threw a distance of 9.63m 31'7.25".

Kiara Austin completed the triple jump with a distance of 11.47m 37'7.5", while Jill Jachino went a distance of 11.08m 36'4.25".

Ashley Conway cleared the high jump in 1.55m 5'1", while Taylor Horton cleared a personal best 1.50m 4'11".

Three teams competed in the 4x400m relay. Summer Wheeler, Victoria Yocum, Tia Weston, and Deja Rodgers completed the relay in 4:19.37. Emani Griffin, Raeven Wilson, Meaghan Smith, and Abbie Oliver finished in 4:20.96. Jacquelyn Thate, Rebekah Priddy, Caroline Grogan, and Leah Krause completed in a respective time of 4:35.84.

Taylor McCammon and Kristen Higgins competed in the Pentathlon for the first time this season and scored 2836 and 2613, respectively.

Both Brianna McCarthy and Abbie Lukens threw for personal records when they threw respective distances of 13.29m 43'7.25" and 12.58m 41'3.25". Alexis Schleper threw 11.20m 36'9". Mariana Keller threw a new personal record of 10.11m 33'2".

Ashley Conway led the Racers in the long jump with a distance of 5.55m 18'2.5", while Jill Jachino tied her personal record of 5.12m 16'9.75". Kiara Austin went a distance of 4.90m 16'1, while Jolyta Henderson went 4.62m 15'2".
