Racers Set for APSU Governors Invitational

After traveling to two meets last weekend, the Murray State track & field team will be heading down to Clarksville, Tennessee for the Austin Peay Governors Invitational. The meet will run Friday and Saturday.

The meet will begin Friday with just two field events. The Governors will host the hammer throw and the triple jump. The rest of the meet begins on Saturday with field events starting at 10 a.m. and track events starting at 11 a.m. Track will begin with the 3000m steeplechase and then move on to the 400m relay starting at noon. After the 400m relay has begun the track events will move with a rolling schedule. The final field event is the javelin and will take place at 1:30 p.m.

Brittany Bohn set another personal record in the 3000m steeplechase and jumped to second best time in Murray State history. She won the event with her time of 11:03.25.

Ashley Conway competed in the heptathlon for the first time in the outdoor season with a score of 4590. She finished top five in three events and set personal records in two. She threw 33.66m in the javelin and ran 26.68 in the 200m for personal records.

Vallery Korir set a new personal record in the 5000m breaking the 17-minute mark with a time of 16:59.99.Â
