After high-quality performances by the Murray State Track & Field Team at Austin Peay, they will travel to Arkansas State for the A-State Red Wolves Open. The meet is Friday and Saturday in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Â
The meet will begin on Friday at 3 p.m. with the hammer throw. The long jump and javelin are the only other field events taking place on Friday. The track events begin with the 200m at 5:45 p.m. and also include the 800m invite, 3000m steeplechase and 5000m.
Â
On Saturday, the field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the shot put and discus directly following the event. The running events begin at 11 a.m. with the 4x100m relay and are on a rolling schedule.
Â
Last weekend at the APSU Governor Invitational, Tonia Pratt finished first in all three events she competed. She topped the shot put with a distance of 14.71m. She followed that with a throw of 47.00m in the discus, while picking up a 52.35m throw in the hammer.
Â
Kiara Austin got the ball rolling for the Racers as she set a personal record in the triple jump that also landed her in second on the Murray State best list. She jumped 12.34m, which was good for third place.
Â
The Racers look to see improvements from the student-athletes as this is the second to last meet before the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championships.
