Racers Travel to Kentucky Relays
5/1/2015 10:56:00 AM | Women's Track and Field
Murray State track and field team takes to the track for the last time before the Ohio Valley Conference Championship at the Kentucky Relays in Lexington, Kentucky. The Racers are hoping for standout performances at the meet for a good sign before the Championship meet.
Â
As a one day meet, the track events will begin at 9:20 a.m. with the 5000m run, while the field events begin at 10:30 a.m. with the shot put. All of the Racers attending the meet will be attending the OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. Both the track and field events are broken up with high school boys and girls competing.
Â
Last weekend, MSU went to Arkansas State for the A-State Red Wolf Open and many Racers came back with their spirits high. Murray State had three first place finishes, a broken and tied school record, five student-athletes being named to the All-Time Best Outdoor List at MSU and 22 personal records.
Â
Ashley Conway finished first in the long jump with a distance of 6.13m, which is the 35th best distance in NCAA Division I and 20th best distance in the region. Conway's distance stands as an NCAA qualifier at this point in the season.
Â
Sydney Potts finished first in the javelin with a personal best 42.22m throw. Her throw is ranked 73rd in the region, and has two meets to get a NCAA qualifying distance.
Â
Brittany Bohn won the 1500m invite with a personal record time of 4:32.26. Bohn also finished the Arkansas State meet with a third place finish in the 800m.
Â
Tonia Pratt set a new school record in the discus with her 49.27m throw, while also tying the school record in the shot put with her distance of 15.01m. Both school records were previously set by Pratt.
