Late Comeback For MSU Falls Short At Ole Miss
12/15/2016 8:36:00 PM | Men's Basketball

Terrell Miller scored 27 points and hauled in 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to keeping the Racers from falling to 5-6.
The Rebels went into the intermission leading the Racers 43-31 after MSU struggle on offensive and went more than eight minutes without a field goal.
Murray State fell behind 62-42 with 10:55 remaining and still trailed by 12 with 3:00 on the clock. The Racers managed to get back into the game and cut the Ole Miss lead to single digits when Jonathan Stark hit a pair of free throws with 1:02 left. The Racers forced a turnover and Damarcus Croaker scored to make it a 76-70 game with 45-seconds left. After Miller made one of two from the line, MSU forced Ole Miss into another turnover, but Miller missed a 3-point try that would've cut the lead to one with :16 left.
Croaker added 13 points and eight rebounds to the Racer attack and Stark added 12 points.
The Racers hit 36 percent from the field on 22-of-61, while Ole Miss hit 36 percent on 22-of-62. Both teams hit seven threes in the game and the Rebels won the rebound stat 49-42.
Game Notes
Terrell Miller's stat line was impressive tonight. The junior forward scored 27 points on 8-of-12 shooting including 4-of-6 from the 3-point line and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Miller grabbed 10 rebounds and had two steals. And he did it in 25 minutes.
It's Miller's second double-double this season. His first was at home against Alabama A&M (Nov. 26) with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Racers are now (3-2) all-time against the Rebels and 1-3 on the road. This was the first meeting between the two since 2010.
MSU is now 12-32 all-time against teams from the Southeastern Conference. Their last win was over Auburn in the 2013 Charleston Classic.
MSU has alternated wins and losses in their last six games.
The Racers' two-game road swing continues Saturday when they play the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in a 4 p.m. tip in Brookings, S.D. The game marks the second meeting between the two after they first met at MSU in the 2013 ESPNU BracketBusters.
